Position Overview

Gateway Physical Therapy is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Work Environment

Situated within a modern hospital setting in Elizabeth, NJ, our rehabilitation clinic is equipped with advanced technologies and resources designed to facilitate effective therapy sessions. The onsite environment ensures close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, enhancing patient outcomes and fostering a supportive atmosphere. Our regular working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to accommodate patient needs and ensure continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Physical Therapists in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans, focused on improving strength, mobility, and patient functionality.
• Guide patients through specific therapeutic exercises, stretches, and other physical activities tailored to their unique recovery plans.
• Educate patients about proper body mechanics during daily activities and teach them effective exercise techniques to be used at home.
• Administer treatments, including modalities like electrical stimulation and ultrasound, under the supervision of Physical Therapists.
• Monitor and document patient progress accurately, ensuring precise tracking of range of motion, strength improvements, and successful rehabilitation outcomes.
• Prepare treatment areas and maintain organization of therapy equipment and materials, ensuring readiness for each session.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to optimize comprehensive patient care.
• Provide ongoing emotional support to patients, encouraging them throughout their rehabilitation journey to foster a motivational environment for recovery.
• Maintain professional standards by adhering to ethical practices, ensuring patient confidentiality, and respecting privacy at all times.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our diverse patient population includes individuals recovering from surgeries, sports injuries, neurological conditions, and age-related challenges. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will interact with a wide range of patients—each with unique rehabilitation needs. Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program, resulting in an Associate degree or equivalent.
• A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in New Jersey.
• In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and a variety of therapeutic interventions pertinent to physical therapy.
• Practical experience and proficiency in executing therapeutic exercises under physical therapist guidance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
• A patient-centered, compassionate attitude, with genuine enthusiasm for helping others achieve their rehabilitation objectives.
• Ability to adapt treatment approaches to meet the diverse needs of different patient populations.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working in a rehabilitation setting is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs) systems is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
