Work Environment

Located in a hospital setting, our clinic offers a collaborative and supportive work environment where the PTA will have the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional flexibility to accommodate patient needs or clinic operations. This facility is equipped with the latest rehabilitation technologies and resources to support effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist licensed Physical Therapists in implementing customized treatment plans aimed at enhancing patient mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
• Engage with patients during therapy sessions, providing guidance on therapeutic exercises, stretches, and functional activities designed for pain relief and improved physical well-being.
• Educate patients on exercise techniques, proper body mechanics, and home exercise programs to promote ongoing recovery and health maintenance.
• Administer a variety of modalities, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound treatment, and heat/cold therapy, in accordance with the supervising Physical Therapist's directives.
• Monitor patient progress meticulously by documenting changes in range of motion, strength, and functional improvement, ensuring that treatment approaches are adjusted as necessary.
• Prepare treatment rooms and organize materials and equipment efficiently, ensuring that the workspace is safe and conducive to high-quality therapy.
• Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, to optimize patient outcomes and ensure seamless communication across different care specialties.
• Offer emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation process, fostering a positive atmosphere that enhances motivation and healing.
• Uphold all ethical and professional standards, ensuring that patient confidentiality and rights are respected at all times.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The PTA will work with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, managing chronic conditions, or rehabilitating from injuries. This role demands a compassionate and adaptable approach, as each patient will have unique rehabilitation goals and requirements related to their specific age, condition, and lifestyle.

Qualifications

• An Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is essential.
• A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant is required.
• Strong foundational knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions relevant to physical therapy is necessary to provide effective patient care.
• Proficiency in carrying out therapeutic exercises and modalities under the guidance of a supervising Physical Therapist.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
• A genuine, patient-centered approach with a commitment to helping patients reach their rehabilitation goals.
• Detail-oriented, with solid organizational and time management abilities to handle a dynamic patient caseload.
• A commitment to continuing education and staying informed about the latest advancements in physical therapy practices.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a hospital or clinical rehabilitation setting is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) for patient documentation can be advantageous.
• Previous experience working with diverse age groups, particularly geriatric and pediatric populations, is highly beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits
