Employment Type: Full‑Time
Requirement: 5+ years of experience within a corporate hospitality environment.
ABOUT US:
Trishul Hospitality is a hands-on owner-operator hospitality company built to create durable performance across every phase of the hotel lifecycle—development, acquisition/repositioning, major renovations/PIPs, and operational turnarounds. We stay close to the work: partnering with on-property teams, using data and proven operating disciplines to drive market share, protect margins, and deliver the guest experience our brands and owners expect. As we grow, we’re scaling with intention—building repeatable systems, strong leaders, and technology-enabled processes that allow us to expand without losing the accountability and responsiveness that define how we operate.

- Hospitality with Standards — Warm, consistent service delivered with disciplined brand compliance.
- Integrity, Always — Do the right thing, especially when it’s hard or inconvenient.
- Relentless Improvement — Measure, learn, and tighten execution every week - operations, sales, and cost controls.
- One Team, One Scoreboard — Transparent goals, accountable follow-through, and shared wins across property and above-property teams.
Vision
To become a leading regional owner-operator management platform known for disciplined execution, high-performing teams, and scalable systems—growing our portfolio while staying true to what got us here: being present, accountable, and committed to exceptional results for guests, associates, and ownership.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Trishul Hospitality is seeking an experienced, hands-on Corporate Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting across our hotel portfolio and management company. This position will take responsibility for accurate financial records, timely financial statements, the monthly close, cash management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll oversight, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance coordination. Working directly with ownership, operations leadership, General Managers, and outside accounting professionals, the Corporate Controller will provide clear financial guidance and establish consistent accounting practices across the portfolio. The ideal candidate is comfortable preparing and reviewing accounting entries, reconciling accounts, investigating discrepancies, and translating financial results into practical operating recommendations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Portfolio Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Lead the full accounting cycle for portfolio hotels and the management company, maintaining accurate records for each property and legal entity.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare, review, and deliver property and company financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow reporting, and portfolio summaries.
- Maintain accurate intercompany balances, shared expense allocations, management fees, owner advances, and approved capital contributions and distributions.
- Apply generally accepted accounting principles and consistent hotel reporting practices, including the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry.
Hotel Revenue, Receivables, and Accounts Payable
- Oversee reconciliation of hotel revenue and collections between property management systems, the general ledger, merchant settlements, and bank deposits.
- Review direct-bill receivables, advance deposits, refunds, chargebacks, and revenue adjustments; work with hotel teams to resolve discrepancies and collect outstanding balances.
- Review franchise statements, brand fees, loyalty program charges and reimbursements, and third-party booking commissions.
- Manage accounts payable workflows, including vendor records, invoice coding, supporting documentation, approvals, payment scheduling, and vendor statement reconciliation.
- Investigate duplicate charges, missing credits, billing errors, and unusual transactions, and ensure timely resolution.
Payroll and Labor Management
- Manage payroll workflows in ADP, coordinating with hotel leadership to ensure accurate time records, appropriate approvals, authorized employee changes, and timely payroll processing.
- Review payroll allocations, deductions, taxes, and related liabilities for accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
- Reconcile ADP payroll reports and related bank activity to payroll entries and liabilities recorded in Inn-Flow.
- Use Inn-Flow and ADP reporting to analyze labor costs, overtime, staffing trends, and productivity against budgets and operating needs.
- Partner with operations leadership and General Managers to address payroll discrepancies and improve labor cost management.
Cash Management and Internal Controls
- Monitor cash balances and maintain a rolling cash forecast covering operating expenses, payroll, taxes, debt service, and planned capital expenditures.
- Prepare payment schedules and funding recommendations for ownership review and execute approved transactions within established authority.
- Ensure bank and credit card accounts are reconciled promptly, with outstanding items investigated and resolved.
- Establish and maintain controls over purchasing, disbursements, cash handling, refunds, vendor banking changes, and financial system access.
- Maintain appropriate separation of transaction preparation, review, and approval responsibilities, and communicate significant financial concerns promptly.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Operational Support
- Coordinate annual operating budgets and periodic forecasts with ownership, operations leadership, and General Managers.
- Analyze actual results against budget, forecast, and prior periods, explaining significant changes in revenue, labor, operating expenses, and profitability.
- Lead financial reviews with hotel teams and translate results into clear recommendations and follow-up actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve expense management, collections, working capital, and financial performance while supporting guest service and brand standards.
Tax, Compliance, and External Reporting
- Maintain a calendar of accounting, tax, and financial reporting deadlines.
- Oversee the timely preparation or coordination of applicable sales, use, lodging, payroll, and other required filings.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for outside CPAs, tax preparers, auditors, lenders, and other financial service providers.
- Prepare year-end schedules and supporting records for income tax returns, financial reviews, audits, and vendor tax reporting.
- Prepare owner and lender reporting, maintain debt and reserve schedules, and monitor financial reporting obligations and applicable loan covenant calculations.
Capital Projects and Portfolio Growth
- Track spending for renovations, property improvement plans, equipment purchases, and development projects against approved budgets.
- Maintain fixed-asset, depreciation, construction-in-progress, and capital expenditure records.
- Support lender draw requests, reserve reimbursements, and project payment documentation in coordination with ownership and project teams.
- Support accounting setup and transitions for hotel openings, acquisitions, dispositions, and new entities.
Accounting Leadership and Process Improvement
- Establish clear accounting responsibilities, deadlines, and review procedures across corporate and hotel teams.
- Maintain consistent account coding, approval procedures, reporting practices, and effective use of Inn-Flow and ADP.
- Document procedures and train team members on financial reporting, invoice approvals, payroll requirements, and cash controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and financial visibility across the portfolio.
- Maintain the confidentiality of company, employee, and ownership information.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least five years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial hotel accounting experience and responsibility for multiple properties or legal entities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting, internal controls, cash management, payroll accounting, and hotel financial reporting.
- Ability to identify errors, resolve discrepancies, and maintain consistent accounting standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to ownership and hotel leaders.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, discretion, and follow-through.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Inn-Flow and ADP is strongly preferred.
- Experience as a Corporate Controller, Regional Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior accounting professional with significant portfolio responsibility.
- Experience with limited-service or select-service hotels affiliated with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, or Choice Hotels.
- CPA or Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive designation.
- Experience supporting an owner-operated hotel company.
- Experience with hotel openings, acquisitions, renovations, or capital project accounting.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Accurate financial statements delivered on a consistent schedule.
- Reconciled accounts with clear supporting documentation and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Accurate payroll and useful visibility into labor costs.
- Reliable cash forecasts and early identification of funding needs.
- Financial reviews that help General Managers understand results and take action.
- Consistent accounting procedures and controls across the portfolio.
