We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a non-profit organization’s accounting operations in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role is focused on maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening reporting quality, and contributing to a smooth month-end close process. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound accounting judgment, and the ability to work across multiple priorities while improving financial processes and documentation. Responsibilities:

• Oversee account reconciliations and detailed balance sheet reviews to help ensure financial information is complete and accurate.

• Support monthly closing activities by preparing analyses, reviewing transactions, and assisting with timely completion of reporting deadlines.

• Investigate variances and accounting inconsistencies, then resolve issues through careful research and coordination with internal stakeholders.

• Verify the accuracy of financial data from accounting records and system-generated reports before it is used for reporting purposes.

• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits, tax-related filings, grant reporting, and other financial reporting needs.

• Maintain clear accounting procedures and update documentation to promote consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.

• Recommend and carry out process enhancements that improve accuracy, reduce manual work, and strengthen accounting workflows.

• Provide cross-functional accounting support during high-volume periods and assist with special projects as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Experience in accounting, financial analysis, auditing, or a closely related area.
• Working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience preparing bank reconciliations and reviewing financial data for accuracy and completeness.
• Familiarity with fund accounting within a non-profit environment is preferred.
• Experience using Abila MIP or similar accounting software is highly valued.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
