Line Server - Jacob K. Javits Convention Center

The Line Server is responsible for delivering food and beverage items from the kitchen to the guests. In this position, the server should understand the content of the menu and ensures that food is delivered in a timely fashion. The server should understand and follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and help with the execution of area setup and breakdown.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

Service

• Ensures all food and beverages are properly delivered and/or stored.
• Knowledgeable on all menu offerings.
• Follows set up and break down processes efficiently.
• Understands all event paperwork and reports.
• Establishes rapport with guests and understands suggestive and upselling techniques.
• Adheres to location appearance guidelines.
• Acts with a sense of urgency and professionalism.
• Employs good safety and sanitation practices.
• Follows responsible alcohol service policies.
• Understands the importance of maintaining equipment and executes accordingly.
• Thoroughly completes all event set-up and breakdown responsibilities within timelines provided.
• Performs post event product inventory and restocks as needed.
• Helps fellow employees whenever necessary.
• Communicates challenges and relevant information to management.
• Performs equipment inventory as needed.
• Delivers exceptional service.
• Acts with a sense of urgency with respect to guest and event needs.

Qualification

• Stand for long periods of time and be able to actively engage physically with guests.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• React with physical and mental alertness in emergency situations.
• Demonstrate physical stamina and agility required to be mobile for long periods throughout the day.
• Lift/move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Move from sitting to standing easily and quickly.

• Displays a positive attitude.
• Assists others when necessary and/or requested.
