Introduction Our client is a hospital seeking a Specialty Medical Director to lead a respected specialty and emergency institution in Southern California. The hospital provides advanced critical care, emergency, and specialty services and is looking for an experienced, collaborative clinician-leader to guide medical excellence, team development, and strategic growth within a high-performing, multi-specialty environment. Working Hours / Rota This opportunity is available on a Full-Time or Part-Time basis, with flexibility in clinical versus administrative time depending on the candidate's interests and strengths. The hospital operates 24/7, providing continuous emergency and critical care services. Role Description and Responsibilities The Specialty Medical Director will provide medical leadership and strategic direction for the hospital while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include supporting and mentoring specialists, ER doctors, interns, and residents, and partnering closely with hospital and regional leadership to drive clinical quality, engagement, and growth. The role allows for maintaining an active clinical presence if desired. The ideal candidate is an experienced veterinarian, with board-certified specialists or experienced emergency clinicians preferred, and prior leadership experience strongly desired. A passion for advancing medicine, developing people, and shaping long-term vision and growth is essential. The hospital is also known for Avian and Exotic pet care.
