Assistant Vice President, Development

A privately held real estate investment, development, and advisory firm is seeking a talented Development Associate / Assistant Vice President to join its growing team in New York City. The firm specializes in complex urban development, repositioning, value-add, and opportunistic real estate investments across multiple asset classes. With a significant active development pipeline, the organization is involved in projects requiring sophisticated deal structuring, public-private partnerships, entitlement strategies, and large-scale project execution.

Role

This is a highly visible opportunity to work closely with senior leadership within a lean and entrepreneurial organization. The successful candidate will participate in every stage of the real estate development lifecycle, including:

• Acquisitions and Transaction Execution
• Financial modeling and underwriting
• Financing and capital raising support
• Due diligence and feasibility analysis
• Design management and predevelopment
• Entitlements, zoning, and permitting
• Construction oversight and project delivery
• Stakeholder and partner management

The position offers broad exposure across both the investment and operational aspects of development and is ideal for a professional seeking significant responsibility and career growth.

Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Approximately 3 to 8+ years of experience in real estate development, acquisitions, development management, or a related field
• Exposure to multiple phases of the development process, from acquisition through construction and stabilization
• Strong financial modeling and real estate underwriting skills
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Excellent organizational and project management capabilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• A proactive, hands-on, and entrepreneurial mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with multifamily, condominium, mixed-use, or value-add development projects
• Exposure to institutional-quality real estate projects and complex capital structures
• Experience working with architects, consultants, contractors, and development teams
• Familiarity with large-scale urban development projects
• Knowledge of New York City development, zoning, entitlement, and permitting processes is advantageous
