Advanced seeds help mitigate risks such as disease and drought and allow farmers to grow food using less land, less water and fewer inputs.Syngenta Seeds brings farmers more vigorous, stronger, resistant plants, including innovative hybrid varieties and biotech crops that can thrive even in challenging growing conditions.Syngenta Seeds is headquartered in the United States.Role purposeDeliver part of the Syngenta capital investment program by:Direct management of engineering capital and significant repair and maintenance projects; ensuring the timely implementation of new or improved assets consistent with business requirements and within agreed cost and safety parameters.Providing expert advice and direction to others by the timely application of technical and/or project management professionalism at key points in the project process.Through close liaison with finance, Procurement, legal, SPR, process engineers, automation engineers and key stakeholders, ensure that capital projects use fit-for-purpose engineering solutions and meet Syngenta HSE requirements. Job DescriptionThrough a clear understanding of the business strategy, intent, or requirements:Manage projects directly: Agree, set, and achieve challenging success criteria for projects and formulate and deliver project execution strategies to achieve delivery through a project team composed mainly of third parties (e.g. Syngenta staff, design and construction contractors and equipment suppliers)Work with project owners to shape project scope. This often requires holding large areas of ambiguity before a project scope is finalised in a Terms of ReferenceDefine, estimate, deliver, track, and report safety, costs, and physical progress of individual capital projectsPrepare robust, timely applications for engineering capital approvals and project completion reportsEnsure full integration between commissioning and start-up activities and the design and construction phases of projectsDevelop an in-depth understanding of the engineering requirements for seed projects (R&D, P&S, VEG, and other business units of the company) *Provide cutting-edge engineering solutions for use throughout Syngenta. *A particular engineering specialism (e.g., AI Projects, Seeds Projects, GE Projects)Provide support for both annual and 5-year capital & expense planning for local sites and business units, including cost estimates, business case development, and schedule developmentQualificationsUniversity degree (BS min or equivalent) in chemical/industrial engineering, electrical engineering mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering/biology/agronomy/food scienceAt least 5 years of experienceDemonstrates experience in operational manufacturing sites and constructionLeading a high-performance project team of internal and external resourcesEngineering for a range of facility types (e.g., manufacturing, processing, commercial, laboratory)Country legal and compliance requirementsUnderstanding risk in engineering activitySetting appropriate standardsUnderstanding the external supply baseContracting for engineering servicesManagement of engineering suppliers and contractorsAdditional InformationWhat We Offer:A culture that celebrates belonging and collaboration, promotes professional development and strives for a work-life balance that supports the team members.
