Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Coordinator

This position is onsite and located in the Fort Lauderdale office of Cliff Berry, Inc. (CBI).

Cliff Berry, Inc. (CBI), a leader in environmental services, is seeking an Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) Coordinator to support our safety, health, and environmental programs. This position reports to the ESOH Manager and works closely with employees, managers, Human Resources, and outside providers.

Position Summary

The ESOH Coordinator combines safety administration with periodic field work, including classroom and hands-on training. You will coordinate training, manage our Learning Management System (LMS), maintain compliance records, and support inspections and corrective actions to help keep our workforce safe.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate computer-based and instructor-led safety training, schedule sessions, and track attendance and completion.
• Administer the LMS, including user accounts, course assignments, and completion records. Create safety training content, tests, and supporting materials.
• Assist with or conduct new-hire safety orientation and deliver periodic field training, including awareness-level, department-specific, and hands-on instruction.
• Maintain accident, incident, near-miss, first-aid, and OSHA records; assist with insurance claims and required reporting.
• Help monitor regulatory requirements and deadlines, maintain client compliance portals, and submit required documentation.
• Coordinate with Human Resources and the ESOH Manager on workers’ compensation, NCMS requirements, drug, alcohol and contraband programs, and transitional return-to-work cases.
• Maintain driver qualification files and assist with monitoring DOT and company compliance.
• Participate in safety inspections, document hazards, track corrective actions, and follow up on completion.
• Assist with updating safety manuals, procedures, Job Safety Analyses, spill prevention and emergency plans, EPCRA filings, and site-specific safety plans.
• Compile safety data, recommend improvements, and provide established compliance information while referring complex matters to the ESOH Manager.
• Maintain infectious disease documentation and assist with testing coordination, contact tracing, and return-to-work requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and applicable regulatory requirements, including hazardous waste management, air, water, and waste permitting, and pollution prevention.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work professionally across departments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and Seaport Security Identification Card (Port ID).
• A valid driver’s license and appropriate auto insurance when operating a company vehicle, unless covered by CBI insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of relevant safety experience in the environmental services industry.
• Relevant coursework, certifications, or training in occupational safety and health or a related field.
• Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001:2018.

Schedule and Travel

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some travel is expected. Extended hours, weekends, holidays, and response to after-hours calls may be required to support emergency coverage, incident investigations, or work in progress.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Office and field work may involve extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, chemicals, noise, uneven surfaces, confined spaces, and climbing vehicles, stairs, or ladders for inspections, demonstrations, or training.
• Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Duties include sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Wear required PPE, including respiratory protection when applicable, and demonstrate the safe use of safety and emergency equipment.
• Communicate and respond to instructions using voice, electronic devices, and respiratory equipment; perform duties requiring close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
