SRE Software Engineer (Consumer & Community Banking)

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus at least 3 years of applied experience.
• Hands-on development experience with one or more general-purpose languages, such as Python, Java, or shell scripting, supporting production-grade systems.
• Experience operating and improving distributed systems on Linux/Unix, including troubleshooting across application, infrastructure, and data layers.
• Experience with cloud and virtualization concepts, APIs, and modern practices for scalable, fault-tolerant services.
• Experience with observability and operational diagnostics using monitoring and logging platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or cloud-native telemetry tools.
• Working knowledge of version control and modern delivery practices, such as Git-based workflows and CI/CD, with a focus on quality and secure engineering.
• Strong critical thinking, incident leadership, and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and operations.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to assess, validate, and refine generated output for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resilience and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe use.
• Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads, including deployment and operational troubleshooting.
• Preferred: Experience designing frameworks that improve developer experience, release velocity, code health, and engineering standards.
• Preferred: Experience in performance testing, bottleneck analysis, and capacity planning for high-throughput services.
• Preferred: Production administration experience with application servers, web servers, or databases such as Tomcat, Nginx, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Preferred: Cloud architecture or data platform certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect or equivalent.
• Preferred: At least 5 years of related industry experience in application development, site reliability engineering, or DevOps in large-scale environments.

• Improve the reliability of large-scale distributed services by applying software and systems engineering practices to production operations.
• Design and deliver automation to reduce manual work, improve recovery times, and strengthen production stability and resilience.
• Coordinate responses to high-priority incidents, lead triage through resolution, and facilitate blameless reviews that produce measurable improvements.
• Partner with application development teams across the delivery lifecycle to support sustainable releases, safer changes, and repeatable deployments.
• Implement self-healing patterns, resilience strategies, and capacity management practices to improve availability and reduce operational effort.
• Develop and evolve end-to-end observability—including metrics, logs, traces, and alerting standards—to support actionable monitoring and reduce noise.
• Analyze incidents and usage patterns to anticipate reliability risks and proactively prevent customer-impacting issues.
• Balance engineering delivery with operational duties, including participation in on-call rotations as needed.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI coding assistants and software lifecycle tools to support coding, refactoring, testing, documentation, and automation; validate outputs through peer review, testing, and secure coding practices, and share reusable learnings with the team.
