Reporting to the Sustainability Senior Manager and drawing on best practices in the field, the Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for developing sustainability programming across the university; coordinating outreach and capacity-building activities with students, faculty, and staff; supporting new sustainability initiatives on campus; and assisting with the completion of institution-wide sustainability reporting. Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Details

* Bachelor's degree
* A minimum of three (3) years of comprehensive experience in sustainability, community organizing, or education
* Experience coordinating projects and/or developing programming related to sustainability issues.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, environmental science, sustainability, education, public health, communications, or related field.
* Experience working with sustainability or environmental programs in higher education.
* Experience with data analysis. Required Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrated ability to promote sustainable practices and sustainability principles to increase understanding, foster collaborative educational experiences, and promote behaviors consistent with local and global sustainable development.
* Ability to oversee and implement a communication strategy for the Office of Sustainability, including the development of a monthly newsletter, maintenance of the website, and the office's social media presence.
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate sustainability programs.
* Ability to develop, manage, and expand sustainability programs to promote Temple's climate commitment.
* Knowledge of sustainability concepts, practices, and standards.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programming.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
* Demonstrated organizational skills and abilities in managing timelines.
* Demonstrated strong research, data management, and analytical skills.
* Ability to support the Sustainability, Senior Manager in the implementation and administration of Temple's EcoReps program and other strategic education and engagement initiatives.
* Ability to work independently and innovatively with minimal direction.
* Perform other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions of the Position
* Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates sustainability-related programming for students, staff, and faculty. The series of programs includes Campus Sustainability Month, Earth Month, inter- and intra-college competitions, weekly EcoRep events, direct volunteer service, and special events.
* Develops and implements innovative and effective campus outreach and engagement strategies to increase the sustainability literacy of the students, staff, and faculty to support the university's climate commitment.
* Provides technical assistance and organizing support for student organizations and groups interested in sustainability action and advocacy.
* Supports the strategic communication plan to raise awareness of key sustainability messages, accomplishments, and programming, particularly for the marketing of events. This includes email newsletters, website(s), blogs, social media, video content, graphic media, and other digital and direct marketing assets, such as outreach tabling collateral and strategy.
* Provides administration, project support, and student worker management for sustainability initiatives on campus, including data management and operations of the following: the Temple Community Garden and farm stand, Bike Temple, Temple Thrift, Give Go Green, strategic specialty recycling programs, Weigh the Waste, and zero waste events.
* Aids the Director and Senior Manager in completing annual reporting on the institution's sustainability progress, including AASHE STARS, the Sustainability Annual Report, and internal metrics.
