Details MS/Tele unit within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital Day (0700-1930) and Night (1900-0730) 3x12-hour shift options available Every other weekend rotation required Holiday coverage required as needed Floating required as needed Uses Epic EMR system Requirements Active WI RN license or compact RN license required BLS certification required (AHA only) Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in the specialty within the last 3 years Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months Teaching hospital experience required Must pass a telemetry competency exam prior to starting, including adult and pediatric dysrhythmia interpretation with strict passing criteria Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central, peripheral, and PICC line care/management Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols including drip titration Skilled in respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management Previous travel nursing experience required Additional Information Provide direct patient care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit at a nationally recognized teaching hospital Telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms and no more than one incorrect answer on 3rd degree heart block questions, with an overall passing score of 80% or higher Up to two exam attempts allowed; a third attempt requires proof of completing a cardiac interpretation review course Assignment will be cancelled if the telemetry exam is not passed after three attempts Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be accepted Onsite parking requires a permit through UW Transportation; bus and park & ride options are also available American Traveler Job ID P-748085.
