Clinical Transplant Coordinator Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)Location: Methodist HospitalShift: Full-time 1.0 FTE Days Monday-Friday 8:00a-4:00pThe Clinical Transplant Coordinator fulfills the primary responsibilities of coordinating the multidisciplinary approach in the evaluation, treatment, and facilitation of the transplant process, including follow-up care for organ recipients and donors. The role emphasizes collaboration, coordination, and consultation with nursing leadership, primary nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless transplant care.Position Overview:The Clinical Transplant Coordinator manages the complex transplant process by organizing multidisciplinary efforts, ensuring compliance with protocols, and supporting both patient and donor care. This position acts as a liaison among team members, fostering collaboration and contributing to positive patient outcomes throughout the transplant journey. The coordinator plays a vital role in tracking care activities, managing projects, and providing education to patients and families.Key Responsibilities:Coordinate evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care for transplant patients and donors through a multidisciplinary approach.Collaborate with nursing leadership, primary nurses, and healthcare team members to facilitate smooth transplant processes.Manage multiple tasks and projects related to transplant care, ensuring timely and effective service delivery.Track patient care activities, document outcomes, and support quality improvement initiatives.Educate and support patients and families throughout the transplant process.Manage Patients Pre and Post VAD ImplantPatient, Caregiver and Community EducationSupport regulatory requirements required to care for patients with a VADQualifications & Requirements:Education:- Associates of Nursing (ASN) required.- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.- ASN RNs hired after January 1, 2013, must complete their BSN within five (5) years of hire.Licensure & Certifications:- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).- Additional advanced life support certifications may be required per department policies.Experience & Skills:- Demonstrated clinical competency and leadership skills.- Clinical practice experience related to transplant programs.- Strong organizational, writing, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.- Critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.- Previous VAD experience preferred- Previous experience caring for patients with advanced heart failureWhy IU Health?As part of Indianas largest healthcare system, we offer:Competitive salary and comprehensive benefitsOpportunities for professional growth and system leadership developmentA dynamic environment committed to clinical excellence and staff empowermentJoin IU Health!Become part of Indianas leading healthcare system dedicated to advancing clinical excellence, staff development, and exceptional patient care.
