Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in K-7th grade as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Based near Torrington and Winsted, CT, this full-time position offers consistent hours—35-37.5 per week, Monday through Friday—ensuring you have a reliable schedule. Three positions are available: Kindergarten Resource, Grade 1-2 Resource, and 7th Grade Resource/Case Manager. We are seeking in-person candidates ready to inspire growth, foster inclusion, and provide individualized support.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid Special Education teaching certification for Connecticut (or eligibility to obtain)
- Demonstrated knowledge of IEP development and student progress monitoring
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students in resource or case management settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
- Commitment to creating a positive, supportive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students in resource settings, promoting academic and social-emotional skills
- Manage K-7th grade caseloads, including developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, aides, and related service providers to optimize student outcomes
- Foster open communication with families regarding student progress and strategies for support
- Utilize data-driven approaches to inform instruction and measure student growth
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings and professional development sessions
