Assistant Branch Manager – Webster First Federal Credit Union, Fitchburg, Massachusetts (Full Time, Immediate Start) About Webster First Federal Credit Union: Established in 1928, the credit union serves over 90,000 members across Massachusetts with a focus on member service and community engagement. Summary We’re looking for a service-oriented, hands‑on Assistant Branch Manager to support the daily operations of our Spencer location. In this role you will lead a team that delivers outstanding service, ensures operational excellence, and promotes our products and services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Branch Operations Support the Branch Manager in overseeing daily operations and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and compliance standards. Serve as acting manager in the absence of the Branch Manager. Foster a positive, team‑based culture that emphasizes member service, accountability, and continuous improvement. Assist in managing branch cash operations, security procedures, and audits. Monitor internal controls and operational checklists to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Member Service & Relationship Building Provide excellent service to members in‑person and over the phone; model and promote a member‑first approach throughout the team. Resolve complex member concerns and ensure prompt, professional follow‑up. Actively engage with members to uncover needs and recommend appropriate products and services. Maintain knowledge of the local community and develop relationships with local businesses and organizations. Lending & Account Services Conduct loan interviews and process consumer and mortgage loan applications in collaboration with centralized lending teams. Assist members with a wide range of account‑related requests, including opening new accounts, funds transfers, debit card inquiries, and more. Ensure accurate and timely submission of loan applications, disclosures, and closing documentation. Team Development & Supervision Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members. Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support to staff. Assist with scheduling, goal setting, and performance evaluations. Promote cross‑training and team development to support branch flexibility and resilience. Compliance Promote overall BSA compliance by adhering to all BSA and OFAC regulations and assisting the Credit Union’s BSA department with departmental functions. Promote the security and privacy of member and employee information through adherence to information security and physical security policies. Complete annual training on Information Security, BSA, GLBA, and other applicable regulations. Perform other duties as directed. Qualifications & Experience Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or equivalent related experience. Minimum of three years working in a bank or credit union environment. Minimum of two years of staff supervisory experience. Minimum of two years of sales experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written and oral instruction. Knowledge of credit union products and services; able to present information and respond to questions from members and management. Basic mathematical skills. Positive, professional attitude and ability to work cooperatively with a diverse membership. Ability to appear for work as scheduled and occasionally work outside normal business hours. Valid, insurable driver’s license. Physical Demands & Work Environment This role primarily takes place in a professional office environment and involves sedentary work, a desk or teller station, use of a computer, and phone or video conversations. The noise level is generally moderate. Employees may need to sit or stand for extended periods, move about the office, and occasionally lift or carry items up to 20 pounds.
