Machinist

To produce quality products using machining skills. Principal activities include machining and deburring components and manifolds, setting up multiple jobs and operating in a cell environment, troubleshooting minor machining problems, maintaining production and quality data, and supplementing other departmental duties as required. The role also involves setting up and using center distance and bore gaging equipment, inspecting, disassembling, sharpening, and reassembling broaches or drills, and using a variety of precision measuring instruments to maintain dimensions and tolerances. The machinist must be able to operate hoist-operated cranes and other lifting equipment, follow verbal and written instructions, read and work to drawings, setup cards, charts, and tables with or without job tag instructions, and select all types of cutting tools suitable for working on all kinds of materials and on all types of cuts, properly grinding cutting tools.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the use of mathematics together with complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and various types of precision measuring instruments. The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals is required. The ability to define routine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions is also necessary. The ability to interpret basic technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and to read and understand blueprints is essential. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The associate may, in rare occasions, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Education and experience include a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. CNC, HMC, Lathe, Grinding machining experience is preferred.
