Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level II trauma teaching hospital requiring 4+ years of critical care experience.

Details

• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 13-week assignment
• Every other weekend required, must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Adult critical care and Emergency Department settings
• Manages ventilator care including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Performs airway management including intubation/extubation assist, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Administers medications via nebulizer, MDI, and aerosol setups
• Draws and interprets arterial blood gases
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• RRT and BLS certification required
• ACLS and ACCS certifications preferred
• Minimum 4 years of experience required, candidates with 2+ years will be considered
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• VA state license required (license required if applicable); pending license accepted if an active license from another state is held, with VA license in hand before start
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Work as part of a respiratory care team within adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Provide care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, fresh tracheostomy, and those undergoing bronchoscopy
• Travelers must float within scope of practice as needed
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to acceptance
• Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
