Fraud Analyst

Position Summary As a SmartBank Fraud Analyst, you will investigate financial activity that exhibits unusual, illicit, or high-risk characteristics in our efforts to identify, prevent and mitigate the risk of fraud. You will identify patterns of behavior, root causes, and red flags which will be used to improve the various automated and technological solutions used by the Bank. You should have a high level of attention to detail, adhere to deadlines, have strong critical thinking, and find opportunities for improvement. Major Duties and Responsibilities Upholds SmartBank Core Values and Core Purpose. Adheres to and embraces the SmartBank Way by Acting Smart, Looking Smart and Being Smart. Performs ongoing analysis of reports, alerts, and accounts to detect questionable and/or fraudulent activity. Assist in reviewing and analyzing fraud alerts provided by Verafin and other monitoring systems that identifies accounts that may be engaging in or being targeted for illegal and/or fraudulent activity. Completes required BSA/AML/Fraud training and other compliance training as assigned. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act. Participates in training promoting Fraud awareness and prevention. Performs such other duties that may be assigned or requested. Position Requirements and Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree preferred. Two to five years of related experience in a related field. Training Requirements Annual Fraud training will be required. This training will involve attendance at a seminar, class and/or webinar through another source other than the Bank's online training database. The Fraud Officer will assist in finding something that the associate can attend. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of business entities and corporate structures. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight time constraints. High attention to detail. Highly organized. Strong computer literacy. Ability to learn new skills and tasks quickly. Ability to use sound judgement regarding confidential information. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight. Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Displays confidence in making decisions independently. Strong internet research skills, along with the ability to navigate multiple systems at once.
