Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a mixed MedSurg/Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable managing a variety of patients, including those with acute and chronic medical conditions and post-surgical needs.

Job Overview

This position requires working 12-hour shifts, with guaranteed 36 hours per week. The role involves both MedSurg and Telemetry care, demanding flexibility and strong clinical assessment skills.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Unit Capacity: 39 Beds (37 private rooms & 1 semi-private room)
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 for telemetry patients and 1:5 for MedSurg patients, with potential mixed assignments
• Common Diagnoses: Acute and chronic medical conditions, post-surgical patients, stroke patients, and non-titratable drips

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges.
• Monitor telemetry patients, interpret cardiac rhythms, and manage IV medications such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Hospitalists and Intensivists who are available on-site.
• Participate in daily huddles and shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care.
• Employ electronic medical record (EMR) systems effectively; Cerner experience is preferred.
• Work collaboratively with Nurse Aides and other support staff to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a MedSurg/Telemetry setting.
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Ability to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms.
• Experience with Cerner EMR is advantageous.

Additional Information

• Travelers are expected to work weekends, with a requirement for 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule.
• Mandatory participation in the holiday rotation, covering 1 major holiday and 1 minor holiday each year.
• Standard scrub color is navy blue; undershirts must also be navy, white, or black.
• Initial orientation typically lasts 1-2 shifts, depending on EMR experience.
