Your job is more than a job. The Radiologic Technologist Limited Assignment provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions: demonstrates skills and knowledge in the use of all x‑ray equipment and performance of all x‑ray protocols and procedures. Demonstrates technical proficiency in producing high‑quality exams within the appropriate length of time for each procedure. Responsibilities Demonstrates a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS and reviews scans with the radiologists as needed to identify important anatomic detail and abnormalities. Confirms patient identity, body part, and body side before each procedure. Administers sound patient‑care practices in accordance with department and hospital policies to ensure patient safety: communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent; explains procedures and answers questions to reduce anxiety and assure cooperation. Recognizes clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with examinations, takes appropriate action to resolve them, and produces the most desirable outcome. Responds and follows up on critical test findings. Acquires and evaluates patient lab values (BUN, CR, pregnancy, glucose) to ensure they are within normal limits when applicable. Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat, safe condition; checks and inspects the suite for hazards, troubleshoots malfunctions, and reports dangerous conditions. Keeps supplies at par levels, cleans and disinfects equipment, and maintains linen supply. Performs quality control checks in accordance with policy, participates in department QC and PI programs, follows up on deficiencies, and adheres to sterile and aseptic techniques. Consistently records required information, performs routine clerical duties, and inputs and verifies all data in PACS/Radiant. Education and Experience Qualifications Preferred: Appropriate clinical training in a Radiologic Technologist program and healthcare experience as a radiology technologist. Licenses and Certifications Required: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) – American Heart Association. Required: Radiology Technician (ARRT) – Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE). Reporting Relationships Does this position formally supervise employees? No. Functional Demands Medium physical requirements – medium work. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
