Box 3820Eatonton, Georgia 31024 Public Works General Laborer (Employment Opportunity) PUBLIC WORKS GENERAL LABORER The City of Eatonton is seeking a General Laborer to work in the Public Works Department. The selected individual must be capable of performing routine maintenance of City streets and public areas. These duties include removing roadside debris, cutting grass, picking up and removing trash, performing repairs to streets and drainage systems, trimming and removing trees, and other duties as assigned. Must be able to operate lawn mowers, weed eaters, and other necessary hand and power tools. Experience with chainsaws, concrete work, backhoe and tractor operation, and general construction is preferred. This job requires the selected individual to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), high school diploma or GED, the ability to read, write, and comprehend written or oral directives, to translate those directives into operational plans, the ability to plan and prioritize work and to adjust those plans to meet time limitations. The person must be able to see, hear, walk, talk, stand, stoop, sit, and carry packages and objects weighing up to 65 pounds. Work is performed outdoors and is subject to both high and low temperatures. Selected applicant must agree to pre-employment and periodic drug screenings and provide a seven-year driver’s history at the applicant’s expense if selected.
