Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Associate with 3–5 years of California employment law experience to join a growing plaintiff-side employment practice. This remote opportunity is ideal for an attorney with strong experience evaluating cases, negotiating settlements, and managing high-volume pre-litigation matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume caseload of pre-litigation employment matters from intake through resolution.
• Evaluate new cases for strength, settlement potential, and overall strategy.
• Draft demand letters and handle settlement negotiations.
• Communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel.
• Identify matters appropriate for litigation.
• Collaborate with intake, senior attorneys, and support staff to move cases efficiently.
• Help improve department workflows and processes.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as the team grows.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of California employment law experience .
• Plaintiff-side experience preferred.
• Active California Bar license .
• Experience with wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters.
• Strong settlement negotiation and case-resolution experience.
• Excellent writing, negotiation, communication, and case-evaluation skills.
• Ability to effectively manage a high-volume caseload.

Compensation & Benefits

$150,000–$250,000 + Bonus
