Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Intake Vetting Attorney to join a growing plaintiff-side employment practice. This remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced employment litigator looking to apply their legal judgment and case-analysis skills outside of a traditional litigation caseload.

 

No billable hours. No caseload. No court deadlines. The focus is evaluating prospective employment matters and determining which cases should be signed, referred, declined, or escalated.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate prospective plaintiff-side employment claims and determine case viability.
• Analyze wage and hour, FEHA, retaliation, wrongful termination, disability/pregnancy accommodation, and PAGA/class action matters.
• Speak with prospective clients to clarify facts and assess potential claims.
• Identify statutes of limitation, case strengths, risks, and damages considerations.
• Manage a high-volume intake review queue while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.
• Document case evaluations and escalate complex matters when appropriate.
• Use technology and automation to improve intake efficiency and consistency.
• Help refine vetting standards, workflows, and intake processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of employment litigation experience .
• Active California Bar license .
• Strong knowledge of California employment law , including FEHA, wage and hour, PAGA, retaliation, wrongful termination, accommodations, and leave laws.
• Plaintiff-side employment experience preferred.
• Strong issue-spotting, analytical, and case-evaluation skills .
• Ability to make sound decisions efficiently based on available information.
• Experience with Lead Docket, Filevine, Litify, or similar systems is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

$150,000–$300,000 + Bonus

Remote | Full-Time
