Location & Shift 2800 10th Ave, Receiving Dock, Minneapolis, MN 55407‑1311. Permanent night shifts, 8‑hour shift length, 32 hours per week. Shift rotation: every other weekend. Job Summary The Postpartum Unit at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis is a 44‑bed unit with a Level1 Newborn Nursery. Nurses deliver exceptional care in a collaborative, team‑focused environment and benefit from professional development through cross‑training in various Mother‑Baby roles. Key Position Details Tier1: 6‑month or more current RN experience in AbbottNW Postpartum unit required Tier2: RN Postpartum experience required Tier3: 1‑year acute care RN experience or new graduate RN with OB experience required (e.g., internship, capstone, nursing assistant). 0.8FTE (64 hours per two‑week pay period) 8‑hour night shifts, every other weekend rotation Permanent nights shift, 8‑hour shift length, 32 hours per week Responsibilities Provides care to obstetrics patients and their families during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum period. Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on assessment; establishing plan of care; supervising progress; modifying plan as needed. Maintains education and competencies; incorporates evidence‑based nursing practice; develops plan of care considering statutes and regulations. Establishes realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes; identifies age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable outcomes. Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates to ensure safe, effective care. Fulfills all organizational requirements. Supplemental roles: Charge Nurse (acting role)– demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation; Preceptor (acting role)– identifies learning needs and validates clinical competence of orientee. Required Qualifications Associate’s or Vocational degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 2years labor and delivery experience. Licenses & Certifications Licensed Registered Nurse– MN Board of Nursing required if working in state of MN upon hire. WI Department of Safety & Professional Services required if working in the state of WI upon hire. Must meet at least one of the following: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross. Allina in‑house BLS training within 30 days of hire. NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation – Multisource required for identified units within 4 months. ACLS required for identified units within 4 months. RN‑C in related specialty preferred. Physical Demands Medium. Lifting weight up to 32lbs. occasionally (Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25lbs. frequently. Pay Range $42.92 to $71.47 per hour. Base hourly pay range; starting rate depends on experience, education, union agreement. Shift, weekend and/or differentials may increase rate.
