Join a pediatric healthcare organization as a Financial Counselor for a 13-week assignment working 5x8 variable shifts, primarily 2:00 PM 10:00 PM on weekdays, 9:00 AM 5:30 PM on Saturdays, and 7:00 AM 3:30 PM on Sundays as needed. The Financial Counselor plays a vital role in helping families navigate healthcare financial responsibilities by identifying coverage options, securing reimbursement resources, and reducing financial barriers to care. Working closely with departments such as Social Work, Case Management, Revenue Cycle, and Physician Billing, this role ensures families can focus on their child's care while receiving assistance with insurance programs, authorizations, payment arrangements, and financial counseling services.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Minimum 2 years of Financial Counselor experience in a healthcare setting required
• Strong understanding of Medi-Cal programs and insurance authorizations required
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple cases simultaneously required
• Knowledge of government-sponsored healthcare assistance programs preferred
• Experience working with uninsured and underinsured patient populations preferred
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills required
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams required

Responsibilities include assisting uninsured and underinsured families with healthcare coverage options, screening patients for financial assistance eligibility, guiding families through Medi-Cal, California Children's Services (CCS), and other government-sponsored healthcare program applications, coordinating insurance authorizations, counseling patients regarding financial obligations and payment plans, resolving patient account balances, verifying insurance benefits and reimbursement resources, collaborating with Social Work, Case Management, Revenue Cycle, and Physician Billing departments, maintaining accurate financial documentation, educating families on available healthcare resources, addressing financial barriers to care, supporting revenue cycle processes, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements while delivering exceptional customer service and patient-centered financial support.
