We're growing quickly, tackling real problems at scale, and building technology that's changing how renting works.About the RoleWe're looking for a senior accountant to play a key role in our monthly close, reporting, and accounting operations. Reporting to the director of finance and accounting, you'll own meaningful areas of the general ledger, help strengthen processes and controls as we scale, and mentor junior team members. This is a great role for someone who wants broad exposure across a fast-growing fintech/insurtech business — including the interesting accounting that comes with insurance products, premiums, and claims.What You'll DoOwn significant components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliationsPrepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAPHandle complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), prepaid/accrued expenses, equity, and insurance-related balances (e.g., premiums receivable, claims reserves, carrier settlements, carrier payables, and fiduciary assets/liabilities) across multiple carrier programs while serving as the primary finance liaison to insurance operations and actuarial teams.Participate in strategic growth projects including system implementations and standardizing core accounting processes across expanding business lines.Support the annual audit and tax filings: prepare PBC schedules, respond to auditor requests, and coordinate with external accountantsReconcile high-volume transaction data between operational systems, payment processors, and the general ledgerIdentify and drive process improvements, automation, and documentation of accounting policies and internal controlsAssist with cash management, treasury reconciliations, and intercompany accountingReview work of and mentor staff accountants; act as a go-to resource for accounting questions across the teamPartner with FP&A, RevOps, and business teams on flux analysis, reporting, and ad hoc projectsWhat You'll Bring4–6 years of progressive accounting experience; a mix of public accounting and in-house experience strongly preferredCPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferredStrong command of US GAAP; hands-on experience with month-end close and financial statement preparationExperience at a high-growth startup, fintech, or insurance business a plus — especially with high-volume transactional dataProficiency with a modern ERP/GL (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skillsDetail-oriented with strong analytical and reconciliation skills; you find the discrepancy and fix the root causeSelf-starter who thrives with ownership and ambiguity; comfortable improving processes, not just running themClear communicator who can work cross-functionally and explain accounting concepts to non-accountantsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldNice to HaveInsurance or statutory accounting exposure (premium accounting, claims, carrier/MGA relationships)Experience with billing/payments platforms (e.g., Stripe) and data tools (SQL a plus)Experience supporting a first-time audit or building close processes from scratchCompensation & Benefits:Base Salary Range: $90,000-$115,000Rhino + Jetty has partnered with a number of compensation benchmarking tools to determine competitive and fair market pay bands for our size and stage.
