The Surgical Coordinator 3 plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless coordination and scheduling of surgical procedures within a healthcare facility. This position is responsible for managing complex surgical calendars, liaising between surgeons, patients, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize operating room utilization and patient care outcomes. The role demands meticulous attention to detail to handle preoperative preparations, documentation, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The Surgical Coordinator 3 also serves as a key point of contact for patients, providing clear communication and support throughout the surgical process. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the efficiency and quality of surgical services, enhancing patient satisfaction and clinical effectiveness.

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a   Full Time, Surgical Coordinator 3 at Coastal Gastroenterology Associates in Brick, NJ.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures by collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and patients to ensure optimal use of operating rooms.
• Manage preoperative documentation, including verifying patient information, insurance authorizations, and surgical consents to comply with regulatory standards.
• Serve as a liaison between patients and clinical teams to provide timely updates, answer questions, and facilitate smooth surgical experiences.
• Monitor and track surgical case progress, addressing any scheduling conflicts or changes promptly to minimize delays.
• Maintain accurate records of surgical schedules, patient data, and communication logs using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

The required skills enable the Surgical Coordinator 3 to efficiently manage complex surgical schedules and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, which is essential for patient safety and operational efficiency. Strong communication skills are used daily to coordinate between surgeons, patients, and clinical staff, ensuring clear and timely information exchange. Organizational skills help in maintaining accurate records and managing multiple cases simultaneously without errors or delays. Proficiency with EHR and scheduling software supports the accurate documentation and real-time updates necessary for smooth surgical workflows. Preferred skills, such as certification and advanced software knowledge, further enhance the coordinator’s ability to handle specialized tasks and adapt to evolving healthcare technologies and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher in a healthcare-related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in surgical coordination or a related healthcare administrative role.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and scheduling software.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, medical terminology, and healthcare compliance requirements.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) or Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) is advantageous.
• Experience working in a hospital or surgical center environment with multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with insurance verification processes and healthcare billing procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare management software.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical setting.
