Job Description

Speech Language Pathologist- Home Health Care - Macomb Suburbs - 20 Hours - Days

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

• **Deliver dynamic clinical speech-language pathology services** to HFHS patients by:
• Collaborating with patients, families, and HFHS staff to explore communication and swallowing challenges;
• Diagnosing speech, language, and swallowing disorders while evaluating patient conditions and prognosis;
• Creating customized treatment and therapy programs that get results;
• Scheduling and conducting engaging patient follow-up visits.
• **Master clinical equipment** to measure and analyze speech production characteristics during patient evaluations and treatment sessions.
• **Perform endoscopic assessments** of vocal fold vibratory function and swallowing function with precision and care.
• **Partner with dietary personnel** to develop creative nutritional menus and eating programs tailored for patients with swallowing challenges.
• **Empower patients** by prescribing appropriate communication technology following cancer or laryngeal surgery, then coaching them to confidently use their new tools and develop stronger communication skills.
• **Champion departmental growth** by actively participating in education and research programs, including program development, clinical fellow orientation, and hands-on instruction.
• **Lead and mentor** departmental graduate students and clinical fellows through work scheduling, motivation, performance feedback, and day-to-day guidance.
• **Represent HFHS with pride** at community, regional, and national conferences while educating local organizations about the innovative programs available.
• **Take on additional responsibilities** as assigned or requested to support team success.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program;
• Successful completion of the National Praxis Examination;
• Successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting required.

LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

• The State of Michigan license; Certificate of Clinical Competence by ASHA
