PRN ECMO Specialist RT

Posting Note: Phoenix Children’s is looking for ECMO Specialists for a PRN position covering 12‑hour night shifts on a Platinum ELSO Center of Excellence. Candidates should have completed a formal ECMO training course and at least one year of ECMO specialist experience. The role supports cardiac and respiratory patients on VV and/or VA ECMO in the Neonatal, Cardiovascular, or Pediatric Intensive Care Units. The position facilitates and administers respiratory care, including routine and complex procedures, across all age groups. It ensures care meets hospital and regulatory quality standards and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Position Duties Safely perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, guidelines, and policies. Apply knowledge of Respiratory Care interventions and equipment, complete competency validations, and troubleshoot equipment as needed. Interact with patients, families, and the health‑care team, explaining care modalities in an understandable manner. Accurately interpret and communicate patient data, providing thorough clinical status reports. Assess patient status, evaluate progress toward goals, and recommend actions based on best practices. Analyze critical situations and apply judgment for problem resolution, reporting safety concerns and improvement opportunities. Continuously improve knowledge and skills through educational opportunities and departmental communications. Work effectively in a team, especially during stressful situations, demonstrating leadership and trustworthiness. Manage multiple priorities and apply effective time management, ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication of assignment changes. Qualifications Education: Successful completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program (Required). Experience: Post‑graduation experience in a hospital environment (Preferred). Certifications: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (Required). Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (Required). State of Arizona Respiratory Care Practitioner license (Required). American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) membership (Preferred). Current PALS certification (Preferred).
