Job Description

The Logistics Specialist supports multiple functions within the operations department, focusing on shipping, receiving, inventory control, and basic quality inspection activities. This role receives, verifies, and warehouses incoming materials and supplies, prepares and ships finished products to customers and field support, and performs picking, kitting, and labeling tasks to build finished goods. The Logistics Specialist also completes data entry in inventory and order systems, prepares shipping documentation, and conducts visual inspections and quality checks on purchased parts, subassemblies, and finished medical devices to ensure accuracy and compliance with defined criteria.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unpack, and warehouse incoming materials and supplies in an organized and timely manner.

• Check incoming goods against documentation to verify quantities, part numbers, and condition.

• Sort and count materials, supplies, and finished goods as needed to maintain accurate inventory levels.

• Make accurate entries into the inventory database and prepare periodic inventory and activity reports.

• Perform shipper/receiver duties, including processing inbound and outbound shipments.

• Prepare and ship finished product to customers and field support according to established procedures.

• Pick material and kit product to support the build of finished goods and production requirements.

• Perform kitting, labeling, packing, and other tasks prior to shipping products.

• Prepare necessary documents for shipping goods, including shipping labels, packing lists, and related forms.

• Perform visual inspections and quality checks on purchased material, partially assembled products, and finished medical devices according to well-defined criteria.

• Accurately document the results of inspections and review quality documents to support the operations group.

• Perform data entry into associated data systems and order entry tools; use SAP or similar systems when applicable.

• Evaluate problems related to materials, shipments, or quality findings and make initial recommendations for possible corrective actions to the supervisor.

• Handle materials using warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scanners, following safety guidelines.

• Support warehouse inventory activities, including order picking, packing, packaging, loading, and general material handling.

• Collaborate with operations and quality teams to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant movement of goods through the facility.

Essential Skills

• Proven shipping and receiving experience, including data entry and verifying incoming materials and supplies.

• Hands-on experience with logistics operations such as order picking, packing, packaging, loading, and material handling.

• Ability to perform accurate data entry into inventory, order entry, and associated warehouse management systems.

• Experience with inventory control, warehouse inventory processes, and order picking.

• Capability to perform quality checks and visual inspections on purchased parts, subassemblies, and finished products using defined criteria.

• Comfort using RF scanners, pallet jacks, and other standard warehouse equipment.

• Ability to prepare shipping documents, labels, and packing lists with strong attention to detail.

• Basic problem-solving skills to evaluate issues and recommend initial corrective actions.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when sorting, counting, and kitting materials.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operations environment and manage multiple tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• SAP knowledge or experience with similar enterprise resource planning or inventory systems is preferred.

• Experience operating a forklift or other heavy loading/stacking equipment is an asset.

• Experience in logistics, shipping and receiving, or warehouse operations.

• Experience supporting medical device or similarly regulated products through quality checks and documentation review is beneficial.

• Familiarity with kitting, labeling, and packaging processes in a production or distribution environment.

• Comfort working with quality documents and providing support to operations and quality teams.

• Ability to learn and follow well-defined criteria and procedures for inspection and documentation.

• Strong communication skills to coordinate with operations, quality, and shipping personnel.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse and operations environment that handles materials, supplies, and finished goods, including medical devices. Employees work with inventory databases, order entry systems, and may use SAP or similar software. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Danvers, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
