Laboratory Technician

The successful candidate will apply strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to developing specialized nonwovens processes and products. Specific experience working with roll-to-roll web processing, fiber processing and compounding is highly desirable. Strong communication skills and desire to excel in a team-based environment are critical to success. Duties Detailed Job Duties Configuring, operating, and maintaining pilot-scale process equipment (nonwovens focus). Measuring the properties of and characterizing nonwoven materials off the production line. Detailed record keeping and communication of technical work and results. Following and developing standard operating procedures. Maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Material handling, including lifting pails, moving pallets, and completing other duties as assigned. Work requires being able to lift 50 lbs. Work environment requires steel-toe shoes and may require hearing protection and/or respiratory protection. Skills Must Have At least one (1) year technician experience in a private, public, government, or military environment. At least one (1) year experience on manufacturing equipment or in a trades role. Nice to Have Associate's Degree or Two-Year Technical Program certificate or higher in mechanical, electrical, materials, process engineering, or a similar field. Two (2) or more years of experience in nonwovens or fiber processing, web processing, or roll-to-roll processing. Two (2) or more years of experience in process or product development using 5S, Six Sigma, SPC, or similar methodologies. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability and desire to excel in a highly interdisciplinary, team-oriented work environment. Education High school diploma/GED or higher is required. Associate's degree in Engineering preferred but not required.
