DJS RESIDENT ADVISOR LEAD ***INTERNAL ONLY****

Position Summary The DJS Resident Advisor Lead provides lead‑level supervision and guidance to youth residing at a juvenile facility operated by the Department of Juvenile Services. The Lead observes, interacts, and assists youth with everyday life skills while advising them on appropriate alternative behaviors. Additionally, the Lead trains, assigns, and evaluates the work of lower‑level Resident Advisors and maintains full certification through the Maryland Correctional Training Commission. Location Department of Juvenile Services – Lower Eastern Shore Children’s Center 405 Naylor Mill Road, Salisbury, MD 21801 Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: One and a half years of supervision and guidance to at‑risk youth in a juvenile facility or community program. Desired or Preferred Qualifications Experience training, reviewing, and approving the work of employees in a secure residential juvenile facility or setting. Licensing, Registrations and Certifications Full certification from the Maryland Correctional Training Commission, maintained annually. Motor vehicle operator’s license valid in Maryland if assigned duties that require driving. Medication technician training and a valid Maryland Board of Nursing certification may be required for duty at DJS Youth Centers. Special Requirements U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status. Minimum age 21 years. Comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting and drug testing. Oral interview, physical, and psychological examinations. Annual substance abuse testing in accordance with state regulations. Medication technician certification if employed at a Youth Center.
