We are seeking a Food Service Assistant to join our dynamic team at the Phoenix Job Corps Center. This role involves preparing, serving, and cleaning food service areas while ensuring safe and efficient storage and handling of supplies. Position Duties Include Transfer food, supplies, and equipment between storage areas and kitchen/cafeteria. Wash, peel, and core fruits and vegetables as needed. Set up and take down tables and chairs. Scrape, wash, and store dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. Clear, clean, and sanitize kitchen, cafeteria area, and storage areas. Clean refrigerators, stoves, ovens, and other kitchen equipment. Sweep, mop, wax, and strip wax from floors. Clean and store trash containers appropriately. Degrease and sanitize vent screens and filters. Provide superior customer service at all times. Produce quality work and assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner. Maintain appropriate attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards. Plan, prioritize, and organize assignments to meet established goals and deadlines. Understand and apply job knowledge to effectively complete all duties. Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards required by the Program Review Handbook. Provide high‑quality supervision and management for the student population, taking swift and appropriate action to positively influence student behavior. Ensure student needs are met and pursue improvement of services. Exchange ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner, and contribute meaningfully to group efforts. Effectively articulate thoughts and ideas, identify problems, analyze causes, and evaluate solutions before taking action. Work in partnership with staff from all departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students. Accept direction and supervision from the Center Director, Duty Officer, or Shift Manager and perform duties of other departments and positions as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Degree or certification from an accredited or relevant certified training program or school preferred. Experience in a food services operation desired. Ability to obtain local Food Handling/Health Certification required. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling, and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching. Must be able to lift 40 pounds (or assess lift load and request assistance).
