This HIM role also analyzes medical records for documentation deficiencies and extracts data for quality reporting purposes. Duties include release of information of protected health information, in addition to general medical record maintenance. What you’ll get to do in this role: Transcribes or edits medical dictation for physicians and other healthcare professionals using correct medical terminology, spelling and punctuation. Releases protected health information to a variety of requestors. Abstracts and compiles data for quality measures, risk management etc. Completes birth registration according to guidelines set forth from the Minnesota Department of Vital Statistics. Assists utilization review in admission authorization/certification of hospital services. Extracts data from the electronic record system for reporting purposes including quality measures, registries and statistical reports. Performs various clerical and administrative functions as requested by Nursing, Medical Staff and other departments.
