Mechanical Engineer

Digilock is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and improve mechanical lock components and systems from concept through production. This role involves hands‑on prototyping, design for manufacturability, and cross‑functional collaboration with electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams. Experience with electromechanical systems is a plus, as many of our products integrate mechanical locking mechanisms with electronic components (motors, solenoids, sensors, PCBs). Key Responsibilities Design, model, and prototype mechanical lock components and assemblies using SolidWorks Conduct tolerance analysis, tooling design review, and DFM/DFA evaluations to optimize designs for injection molding, die casting, and machined parts Develop and execute test plans (durability, cycle testing, environmental, and failure analysis) to validate product performance and reliability Collaborate with electrical engineers and firmware developers on electromechanical integration (motors, solenoids, actuators, sensors) for smart lock products Partner with manufacturing and quality teams, including Digilock’s overseas manufacturing locations, to troubleshoot production issues and support NPI Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation: drawings, BOMs, specifications, and change orders Support cost reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives on existing product lines Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and certifications (UL, ANSI/BHMA, etc.) Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 5+ years of experience in mechanical product design, ideally with consumer hardware, locks, hardware/fixtures, or similar precision mechanical products Proficiency in SolidWorks Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: injection molding, stamping, die casting, CNC machining Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack‑up analysis, and DFM principles Solid problem‑solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Preferred Qualifications Experience with electromechanical systems — integrating motors, solenoids, sensors, or actuators with mechanical assemblies (strong plus) Familiarity with lock/security hardware, access control systems, or similar regulated mechanical products Experience with UL or ANSI/BHMA certification processes More About Digilock: At Digilock®, we’re at the forefront of innovation, design, and manufacturing in personal security solutions.
