Mobile Diesel Technician II Position Summary: The Mobile Diesel Technician II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The technician is heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Mobile Diesel Technician I/II. Considered the lead on jobsites by customers and technicians, functioning as a consultant on the customer's behalf. A successful Mobile Diesel Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM"), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment (e.g., electrical/break/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines—gas and diesel, transmissions—manual and automatic, clutches, differentials). Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including but not limited to the above categories. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company-issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre/post-trip inspections. Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work-related activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings on Repair Orders ("RO") via company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion. Work independently and manage own daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, or discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain company-issued service truck, performing safety checks and daily inspections. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of experience in a related field (or 5 years of experience with related discipline). The right candidate may have any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED. At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties. OEM training and certifications are preferred. Participate in and complete all in-company required training. Must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If the card has four (4) months or less validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required. Must be at least 21 years old. Valid driver's license required; must hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Safe drivers needed. Accurately judge distances between objects. Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. Compensation Hourly pay range: $26.73 - $40.10 per hour. The base rate may vary within this range based on location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission and/or incentive programs.
