Position Overview:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will deliver specialized care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries, focusing exclusively on inpatient settings. This role is primarily centered in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and the CV Stepdown Unit, where the APP will manage intricate post-operative cases and work closely with cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, as well as a multidisciplinary team, to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

Work Schedule:

• PRN (as needed basis)
• Shift Details: 12-hour shifts, mainly during daytime hours, including mid-week and weekends.
• No on-call duties; all responsibilities are fulfilled in person.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide thorough care for patients in the CVICU and CV Stepdown units following CVT surgeries.
• Conduct patient evaluations, create and execute treatment plans, and oversee post-operative recovery.
• Order and analyze diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and carry out bedside procedures within the defined scope of practice.
• Engage in patient education and assist with discharge planning.
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety regulations, and relevant standards.
• Accurately document all patient care activities in the electronic health record (EHR).

Educational Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Experience Requirements:

• A minimum of one year of experience in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery or advanced practice nursing is required.
• Previous experience in a CVICU setting is highly preferred.

Licensure and Certification:

• National certification as a Physician Assistant is required (or eligibility upon hire).
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS are mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated strong clinical judgment with the ability to independently manage critically ill patients within the scope of practice.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of CVT surgical protocols and post-operative care practices.
