Corporate IT Automation Engineer

Role Description

We are building a modern, automation-first Corporate IT function. Rather than scaling headcount linearly with the company, we are scaling our IT operating model through orchestration, self-service, and AI. The Corporate IT Automation Engineer is the technical driver of that strategy: the person who replaces repetitive, manual IT work with reliable automated workflows and AI agents, and who raises the bar for the systems administrators around them.

This is a hands-on engineering role, not a process-management role. You will spend most of your time building — integrations, scripts, orchestration workflows, and AI agents — across our identity, endpoint, SaaS, and IT service management stack. You will also act as a force multiplier, mentoring our existing system administrators so that automation becomes a shared discipline across the team rather than a single person’s responsibility.

What you’ll do:

• Build a majority-automated IT function
• Identify high-volume, repetitive IT processes and automate them end to end:
• Ticket triage and routing
• Access requests and provisioning
• Onboarding/offboarding (joiner-mover-leaver)
• Software license assignment
• Password and MFA resets
• Device lifecycle tasks
• Design and ship workflow automation across the IT service management platform (Jira Service Management)
• Build integrations between systems using APIs, webhooks, and iPaaS / orchestration tooling (e.g., n8n, Workato, Zapier, or Tines)
• Stand up and maintain self-service capabilities
• Define and track automation KPIs and report progress to IT leadership
• Design and operate AI agents
• Mentor and uplevel the team
• Own the lifecycle of automations and agents
• Partner with Security and IT Compliance
• Maintain clear documentation and runbooks

Qualifications

• 5+ years in IT engineering, systems administration, DevOps, or IT automation
• Strong scripting and programming skills (Python and/or Bash)
• Hands-on experience with an ITSM platform - Jira Service Management a hard requirement
• Experience administering or integrating core SaaS IT systems: Google Workspace a hard requirement and Cloud Identity for identity and access - Okta a hard requirement
• Demonstrated experience building with AI — LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and ideally agentic or RAG-based applications
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Vertex AI hard requirement
• Experience with workflow orchestration / iPaaS tooling (n8n, Zapier, Tines, or equivalent)
• Ability to mentor peers and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

• Experience in a high-growth SaaS or technology company (nice to have)
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD concepts applied to IT automation (nice to have)
• Exposure to data tooling (SQL and a data warehouse such as BigQuery) for reporting and agent context (nice to have)
• Relevant certifications (Google Cloud, Google Workspace, Okta, JSM) (nice to have)
• Experience standing up or contributing to an Automation Center of Excellence (nice to have)

Success in the First Year

• Within 60 days: mapped the top recurring IT processes by volume and shipped automations for the highest-impact two or three
• Within 90 days: a measurable majority of common requests are auto-resolved or self-served, with KPIs in place and reported to leadership
• By end of year: multiple production AI agents running on the Vertex AI platform with appropriate guardrails
