Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Unit

All nurses follow the New Mexico State Practice Act while providing patient care. They anticipate and facilitate during Endoscopic procedures utilizing expertise and proficiency to ensure competent implementation of patient care.

Required Qualifications:

NM State Nursing Licensing
BLS Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

CGRN
ACLS Certification - within six (6) months of hire/transfer

Duties and Responsibilities:

Works collaboratively with providers and other nursing departments to maintain continuity of patient throughput
Utilizes assessment skills to provide patient safety during pre, intra and post procedure
Places IV access and completes prerequisite medical interventions as ordered by the provider
Assists with the setting up and cleaning of equipment adhering to all infection control practices
Handles specimen according to laboratory process (i.e. pathology, histology, cytology, microbiology solutions)
Documents accurately and efficiently per policy
Clearly communicate discharge instructions to patients and caregiver
Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work:

Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship

Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:

Recognize that potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or hazardous materials, x-ray, noxious/irritating fumes, long hours, and unforeseen conditions that might generate stress may be encountered
Must be able to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance
Must be able to walk, stand, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently
Must be able to lift greater than fifty (50) pounds and push up to three hundred (300) pounds frequently
Recognize that physical demands such as extensive walking, standing, lifting, positioning, pushing, and or transferring of patients may be required
Responsible for on-call duties as assigned by GI Lab Manager
