We recognize the importance of each team member's contributions and provide a supportive atmosphere where your efforts are acknowledged and rewarded when we reach our goals.What You Will Do as a Staff AccountantManage recurring bookkeeping and accounting responsibilities for an assigned portfolio of clientsEnter, categorize, and review bank, credit card, payroll, loan, and other financial transactions as neededPrepare journal entries and record appropriate adjustments to client accountsReconcile and review bank, credit card, loan, payroll, and balance sheet accountsReview work completed by Junior Accountants and provide clear, constructive feedbackReview general ledgers and financial statements for unusual balances, classification issues, incomplete transactions, reconciliation differences, and missing documentationPrepare and review monthly and periodic financial reportsIdentify accounting issues, research potential solutions, and make appropriate correctionsPrepare clear review notes and escalate complex or significant issues to managementPrepare and review federal and state payroll tax returns, including Forms 941, 940, and applicable state filingsPrepare and review year-end payroll reporting, including Forms W-2 and W-3Prepare and review state and local sales tax returnsReconcile taxable sales, sales tax collected, sales tax payable, and amounts reportedAssist with sales tax and payroll account registrations and related compliance mattersMaintain accurate, complete, and organized workpapers and supporting documentationManage recurring accounting and filing deadlines across assigned clientsCommunicate directly with clients to request information, resolve outstanding items, answer routine questions, and provide progress updatesProactively identify potential accounting, payroll, sales tax, or process concernsSupport the training and development of Junior AccountantsFollow and reinforce SMG's accounting, documentation, and client-service standardsAssist managers with special projects and other client-service responsibilities as neededQualifications and attributes you will needBachelor's or master's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA license is preferred.Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, with proficiency in QuickBooks.Solid understanding of journal entries, debits, and credits, demonstrating a strong foundation in accounting principlesDetail-oriented and deadline-driven, with the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and resolving financial discrepanciesExceptional client service skills, providing proactive support and building strong relationships with clientsGoal-oriented and purpose-driven mindset, consistently striving for excellence in all aspects of workVersatile and adaptable, capable of handling a variety of accounting tasks and adjusting to changing prioritiesResults-oriented mindset, demonstrating a proactive approach to achieving targets and meeting deadlinesStrong multitasking abilities, effectively managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Benefits and Perks of Joining the SMG ABA TeamAt SMG ABA, we value our team members and offer a comprehensive benefits package to support their well-being and professional growth.
