Facilities & Operations Coordinator

Facilities & Events Coordinator The Facilities & Events Coordinator supports the mission of Mission Church by ensuring church facilities, ministry environments, and events are prepared, staffed, maintained, and restored with excellence. This role exists to create safe, welcoming, and ministry-ready environments where people can find and follow Jesus. Through strong operational leadership, volunteer development, event coordination, facility stewardship, and pastoral presence, this person helps ensure that every ministry environment reflects Mission Church's commitment to excellence, hospitality, and discipleship. Key Areas of Responsibility Facility Operations & Stewardship Conduct routine inspections of church facilities, grounds, and ministry environments. Ensure church buildings remain clean, safe, functional, and ministry-ready. Identify facility concerns and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and vendor services. Assist with snow removal, ice management, grounds maintenance, and campus readiness. Maintain facility equipment, tools, and operational resources. Support preventative maintenance efforts and long-term facility stewardship. Mechanical & Equipment Operations Safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot facility equipment and machinery. Monitor and support building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and related infrastructure. Operate equipment such as floor scrubbers, lifts, snow removal equipment, generators, and grounds equipment. Identify maintenance concerns and coordinate appropriate solutions. Ensure equipment is maintained, organized, and used safely. Event Coordination & Logistics Serve as the primary facilities and logistics contact for church events and ministry gatherings. Coordinate event setup requirements, facility use, room layouts, equipment needs, and logistics. Conduct event walkthroughs and planning conversations with ministry leaders and event organizers. Maintain facility calendars and event schedules as assigned. Partner with ministry leaders to ensure facilities effectively support ministry goals. Event Setup, Support & Facility Restoration Prepare rooms and ministry environments in accordance with approved event plans. Coordinate setup and teardown of tables, chairs, signage, staging, equipment, and event materials. Open facilities, prepare environments, and ensure readiness before events begin. Provide on-site support during events as needed. Restore facilities to ministry-ready condition following events and gatherings. Secure buildings and facilities after use. Volunteer Leadership & Discipleship Recruit, schedule, train, and develop Operations volunteers. Lead volunteer huddles that include prayer, Scripture, encouragement, and team development. Build meaningful relationships with volunteers and invest in their spiritual growth. Develop volunteer leaders and create opportunities for increased responsibility and ownership. Foster a culture of discipleship, care, excellence, and teamwork. Provide encouragement, support, and pastoral care to volunteers and ministry teams. Community Care & Ministry Support Serve as a pastoral point of contact for individuals seeking help, prayer, or support. Provide compassionate, Christ-centered care in moments of need or crisis. Support weddings, funerals, and special ministry events through logistical coordination and pastoral presence. Collaborate with church leadership to ensure appropriate follow-up and care. Help create ministry environments that reflect the heart, mission, and values of Mission Church. Weekend Worship & Ministry Support Support campus readiness and facility preparation for weekend worship services. Place and remove signage and prepare ministry environments. Respond to facility-related needs during services and ministry gatherings. Assist with room transitions, furniture movement, and ministry setup needs. Support church-wide events, conferences, trainings, and outreach initiatives. Success in This Role Looks Like Church facilities remain safe, organized, clean, and ministry-ready throughout the week. Ministry events and gatherings are executed smoothly and with excellence. Volunteers are recruited, developed, cared for, and engaged in meaningful ministry. Facility issues are identified and resolved proactively before they impact ministry. Weekend services and church-wide events experience minimal disruptions to facilities or logistics. Church environments consistently reflect Mission's commitment to hospitality, excellence, and stewardship. Ministry leaders experience responsive, dependable support in preparing for events and ministry activities. Operations volunteers grow spiritually while contributing meaningfully to the church's mission. Experience leading and developing volunteers. Working knowledge of facility systems, maintenance practices, and operational equipment. Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and facility issues. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Willingness to learn and operate basic audio/visual systems. Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Education & Experience High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in facilities management, operations, event coordination, volunteer leadership, church operations, or a related field preferred. Problem Solving & Initiative Anticipates needs, identifies solutions, and proactively addresses challenges. Team Collaboration Works effectively with staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, vendors, and community partners to accomplish shared goals. Key Performance Outcomes Facility Readiness & Stewardship Church facilities, ministry environments, and grounds remain safe, clean, organized, and ministry-ready throughout the week. Facility concerns are identified proactively and addressed in a timely manner, ensuring that church spaces consistently reflect Mission's commitment to excellence, hospitality, and stewardship. Event Execution Excellence Church events, ministry gatherings, conferences, weddings, funerals, and special events are planned, supported, and executed with excellence. Event logistics, room setups, staffing, equipment, and facility preparation are completed accurately and on schedule, resulting in positive experiences for attendees and ministry leaders. Volunteer Development & Engagement Operations volunteers are recruited, equipped, cared for, and developed as disciples and leaders. Volunteer teams are appropriately staffed, engaged, and growing in both effectiveness and spiritual maturity. Leaders and volunteers report feeling supported, valued, and prepared to serve. Operational Effectiveness Facility systems, equipment, maintenance processes, and event support functions operate reliably and efficiently. Problems are anticipated and addressed proactively, minimizing disruptions and creating dependable support for church ministries and weekend services. Ministry Partnership & Service Ministry leaders experience responsive, dependable support that helps them focus on ministry rather than operational logistics.
