Operating Room Technician

Local travel OR tech needed for a 13-week contract near Monterey, CA. The role supports surgical teams in the operating room, ensuring sterile environments and efficient procedures. Candidates must hold current California OR Tech certification and BLS, with experience in OR settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures

Assist surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team during operations

Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols

Pass surgical instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical staff as needed

Anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout procedures

Assist with patient positioning and preparation for surgery

Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and other supplies

Clean, disinfect, and restock operating rooms following procedures

Handle and care for surgical instruments and equipment properly

Follow hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards

Communicate effectively with members of the surgical and healthcare teams

Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate support in the Operating Room

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Current California OR Tech Certification/License required

Current BLS certification required

Must meet all facility-specific credentialing and compliance requirements

Preferred Skills:

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology or Operating Room Technician program preferred

National certification such as Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
