About the Position
Drips and Titration
Titration Required: Yes , RNs are required to titrate drips.
Common Titratable Drips: Precedex , Insulin , Epinephrine (Epi) , Norepinephrine (Norepi) , and Propofol .
Support Staff & Resources
Charge Nurse: Charge Nurse is on the unit but takes patients .
Hospitalist/Intensivist: Hospitalist in-house 24/7 . Intensivist is available by page but not in-house 24/7 .
Respiratory Therapy (RT): RT in ICU 24/7 .
RT Equipment: V60s , high use of BiPAP , CPAP , and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) .
Monitoring
Telemetry: Yes.
Monitor Techs (MTs): Central Monitoring Unit staffed with an MT 24/7, plus two additional MTs staffing the ICU and PCU 24/7.
Strip Reading: RNs are required to read strips and verify the measurements and interpretation provided by the MT.
