POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

The Student Organizations and Events Coordinator contributes to programs specific to the student organization population at the University. This position oversees all registration of student organizations and works to support registered student organization officers and advisors. Supports registered student organization spending of annual A&S budget allocations. Responsible for training and advising the Student Organization Council (SOC), the student governing board that actively reviews and approves new registered student organization requests. Works collaboratively with departmental and University partners to promote student engagement on campus through in-person involvement fairs, community service activities, leadership development workshops, and other events. Recommends decisions regarding student involvement events, activities, and programs. Oversees the administration of Argo Pulse platform. Supervises student staff.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of event planning principles. Basic assessment practices and principles for student programs and services. Skill in conflict resolution. Ability to function effectively under pressure and in unexpected or emergency situations. Skill in dealing with multiple constituents and external partners. Ability to troubleshoot problems, and resolve multiple problems simultaneously, and handle sensitive and confidential information. Computing skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of student organizations, developing support programs, essential student leadership and/or student development theories and principles. Demonstrate evidence of maturity, good judgment, and creativity; possess effective verbal and written communication skills and a professional demeanor, with ability to make complex decisions; skills in developing, organizing, and leading programs and group training sessions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:

• 30% - Support student organization registration. Work with departmental personnel to finalize registration processes each year and execute those processes. Support Registered Student Organization officers and advisors by way of digital resources and in-person workshops and meetings. Regularly communicate with the student organization community and its leaders regarding institutional policies, regulations, and procedures. Oversight of the Registered Student Organizations spending of A&S annual budget allocations. - (Essential)
• 20% - Develop and implement a student organization council that reviews and approves new Registered Student Organizations on campus. Advise and provide consistent education and training to the governing board on student organization registration process, expectations, Constitution reviews, and other requirements associated with new student organization registration. Support events coordinated in conjunction with the student governing board. - (Essential)
• 15% - Collaborate and promote signature programs that enhance student involvement including student organization fairs, student organization recognition opportunities, etc. and recommends decisions regarding these events, activities, and programs. Responsible for coordinating the annual Student Involvement Awards, recognizing outstanding and exemplary student organization performance. Actively engage student organization community with aspects of campus life including Homecoming activities, student tailgates, campus events, and more. Supervise student staff. - (Essential)
• 15% - Provide regular leadership development workshops that focus on group dynamics, team building, servant leadership, strengths, and other relevant topics for student leaders across campus including SGA, RSOs, FSL, first-year students, and more. Oversee community service programming connecting students to meaningful volunteer opportunities through events such as MLK Day of Service. Will support student organizations in their development of community service initiatives that benefit the local Pensacola community. - (Essential)
• 10% - Oversee administration of the Argo Pulse student organization management platform; collaborate with external partners regarding use and implementation; educate students, student organizations, and campus departments on Argo Pulse usage and functionality. - (Essential)
• 5% - Serve on University committees, task forces, and teams as assigned. Represents Student Engagement, the Division of Student Affairs, and/or the University at/on local, state, regional, and/or national events/committees. - (Essential)
