Key Responsibilities We Will Trust You With:

As the Senior Embedded Software Engineer  you will serve as a technical leader in the development of embedded measurement technologies used in custody transfer, flow measurement, and industrial automation systems. Lead the design and implementation of advanced signal processing algorithms, FPGA firmware, embedded architecture, and next-generation digital measurement platforms. Partner closely with hardware, mechanical, and product engineering teams to deliver highly accurate and reliable solutions for critical energy industry applications

What You Will Be Doing: 

• Develop algorithms supporting ultrasonic flow meters, positive displacement meters, and other precision measurement technologies. 
• Develop software and signal processing solutions supporting precision measurement systems used in industrial automation, custody transfer, process control, and diagnostic applications. 
• Support development of advanced flow measurement and terminal automation products used globally within the energy industry.
• Improve metering accuracy, repeatability, diagnostics, and uncertainty performance for custody transfer applications. 
• Lead software and firmware architecture decisions for next-generation measurement platforms. 
• Define hardware/software interfaces and system performance requirements. 
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend future product roadmap enhancements. 
• Participate in design reviews and technical risk assessments.
• Developing, porting, and optimizing digital signal processing algorithms for flow measurement, diagnostics, and advanced sensing applications.
• Develop techniques for real-time signal acquisition, processing, and noise reduction.
• Evaluate and implement algorithms for sensor characterization, frequency analysis, waveform processing, and measurement uncertainty improvement. 
• Support advanced diagnostics, predictive health monitoring, and condition-based monitoring technologies.
• Develop FPGA firmware
• Develop embedded software
• Design digital filters, FFT analysis and time-of-flight algorithms
• Support transducer characterization and signal integrity investigations
• Analyze sensor data and system performance to improve accuracy, repeatability, diagnostics, and long-term product reliability. 
• Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and product engineering teams to define next-generation measurement system architectures.
• Mentor engineers and document critical technical knowledge
• Explore future use and development of end point AI algorithms for diagnostics, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and intelligent measurement systems.
• Support implementation of secure software development practices and cybersecurity requirements for industrial connected devices.

Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise that matter most for this role: 

• BS/MS Computer Engineering or Software Engineering
• 7+ years of embedded product development 
• FPGA development including VHDL/Verilog
• DSP including time domain, frequency domain, domain conversion, FIR filters, Hilbert
• Control algorithms
• Safety and environmental
• Embedded real-time systems 
• Sensor characterization and calibration 
• Frequency and phase measurement systems 
• Statistical analysis, regression, and measurement uncertainty methods
• flow measurement technologies
• Linux
• Proficiency in C/C++ 
• Embedded Linux development 
• ARM-based microcontrollers and processors 
• Real-time operating systems (RTOS) 
• Ethernet, Modbus, CANbus, serial communications 
• Git version control 
• Unit testing and software verification
• Preferred experience with flow measurement, industrial automation, instrumentation, sensors, ultrasonic technologies, process control, or oil and gas applications.

Work Environment:

Spends approximately 90% of the time in an office environment. Remaining 10% of time will be in Software Lab, FRTC (Flow Research and Test Center), Software Partner sights, or customer sites. Some of these sites may be noisy and subject to weather conditions. 

Physical Demands:

Office environment requires sitting, operating a computer, walking and some lifting. Some potential exposure to possible shop hazards when visiting the shop/field environment that includes high noise, heavy machinery, and shop traffic.
