Principal Research Scientist I, Peptide Chemistry

AbbVie seeks a Principal Research Scientist I to lead peptide chemistry projects in manufacturing process development and commercialization. The role involves directing cross-functional teams, advancing peptide manufacturing strategies, and generating regulatory documentation and technical innovations.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional project teams on peptide manufacturing process development and technology transfer
- Author and review regulatory documents, batch records, and technical reports on CMC subjects
- Generate original scientific ideas and champion new technologies to achieve project objectives
- Mentor and supervise team members and evaluate their performance
- Develop new scientific proposals and respond to regulatory or competitive advances
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 14+ years, or master's plus 12+ years, or PhD plus 6+ years in organic chemistry with peptide synthesis focus
- Experience in peptide process development and commercialization
- Expertise in modern organic chemistry, mechanistic understanding, purification, and analytical methods (HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, NMR)
- Demonstrated success authoring publications, presentations, and/or patents
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for leading cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of GxP compliance and handling of controlled drug compounds
