Job Description

The Production Planner/Buyer oversees production scheduling and purchasing activities to ensure materials, components, and services are available to meet customer demand and manufacturing capacity. This role develops and maintains production schedules, manages inventory levels, and supports ERP implementation projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve supply chain and manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer demand, capacity, and manufacturing requirements.
• Purchase raw materials, components, and services to support ongoing and planned production activities.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure material availability while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
• Manage supplier relationships, including pricing negotiations, delivery performance tracking, and issue resolution.
• Analyze demand forecasts and adjust purchasing and planning activities to align with changing requirements.
• Support ERP implementation projects, including Oracle system setup, data migration, process development, testing, and user training.
• Generate, review, and analyze reports to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement in production and supply chain operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, engineering, and logistics to improve supply chain efficiency and overall manufacturing performance.
• Maintain accurate purchase orders and production planning records within ERP and business systems.
• Use Microsoft Excel and other business tools to track key metrics, perform data analysis, and support decision-making.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on production scheduling, purchasing processes, and inventory management.

Essential Skills

• Experience in manufacturing planning, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
• Hands-on experience with ERP implementation and administration, preferably with Oracle ERP systems.
• Strong understanding of supply chain and production planning principles within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in production scheduling and planning in a job shop or similar manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrated purchasing and buying experience, including managing purchase orders and supplier relationships.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, forecasts, and reports to drive decisions.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective problem-solving skills to address material shortages, scheduling conflicts, and supplier issues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and business systems for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with suppliers and collaborating with internal teams.
• Ability to work with ERP systems such as Oracle; exposure to SAP is beneficial.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• College degree is highly preferred; active pursuit of a degree is considered a strong plus, and internship experience may be considered.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, particularly with job shop operations.
• Exposure to Oracle ERP implementation, setup, and user training.
• Familiarity with production planning and scheduling tools and methodologies.
• Experience with supply chain optimization and process improvement initiatives.
• Comfort working with technical documentation such as work orders and production reports.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and logistics.

The facility operates as a job shop environment that is very clean, organized, and temperature controlled. Work areas are well lit and designed to support efficient manufacturing and assembly operations. The broader operation focuses on premium pumps and spray equipment for fluid handling in construction, manufacturing, processing, and maintenance industries, with products manufactured in multiple global locations and distributed worldwide. Employees may work near assembly cells that use blueprints, power tools, hand tools, and work orders to build custom fluid handling equipment such as pumps and air manifolds. The culture is described as excellent, with a professional yet supportive atmosphere. Dress expectations align with a typical clean manufacturing and assembly setting, suitable for working around tools and equipment in a well-maintained facility.

This is a Contract position based out of North Canton, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
