Medical Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant located in Orlando, FL. This is a temp-to-hire position, and candidates must be willing to transition to a permanent role after the contract period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform front and back office customer service duties.
• Draw blood and conduct venipuncture and fingerstick procedures as ordered.
• Ensure accurate patient identification using two unique identifiers prior to specimen collection.
• Prepare collection sites using aseptic techniques and select appropriate collection equipment.
• Label specimens correctly at the point of collection.
• Process, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for transport or analysis according to laboratory protocols.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide appropriate first aid or escalate as necessary.
• Maintain infection control and safety standards during all procedures.
• Collect and process non-blood specimens (e.g., urine) as required.

Working Schedule:

This position requires availability for a schedule that includes:

• Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
• Friday: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
• Extended hours (bimonthly rotating schedule):
  • Wednesday or Thursday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM (if scheduled, no work the previous Friday)

Qualifications:

• Certification: BLS and Medical Assistant certification required.
• One year of experience preferred; first-time travelers are encouraged to apply.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Must have prior housing arrangements set up before submission.
• Should be located within 10 miles of Orlando, FL.

Skills Required:

• Experience in authorization forms and chart preparation.
• Ability to perform follow-up phone calls and verify insurance.
• Capable of obtaining vital signs and ordering supplies.
• Experience in scheduling appointments and stocking supplies.
• Knowledge of telephone triage and performing urinalysis.
• Proficient in phlebotomy techniques.

Additional Information:

Candidates should expect to work some holidays as necessary. Orientation will include necessary modules, recorded through HealthStream.
