Shift: 3rd (8pm - 6am)

Pay: Up to $33.62/hr

Job Description

This role focuses on operating and maintaining CNC mills and lathes in a fast-paced production environment, producing forged and machined components to precise customer specifications. You will run production parts, perform tool changes and offsets, support machine setups, and carry out manual quality inspections. Depending on your experience level, you may also edit CNC programs, adjust feeds and speeds, and troubleshoot machining and tooling issues to ensure consistent quality and productivity on 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills and lathes to produce parts according to the production schedule.
• Work with CNC equipment including Fanuc-controlled machines as well as Okuma, Okuma Howa, Doosan, and Makino machines.
• Perform tool changes and offsets during production to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Assist with and, at the setup level, perform complete machine setups for new and repeat jobs.
• Edit CNC programs using Fanuc controls and G&M codes (for advanced operators and setup machinists).
• Adjust feeds and speeds to meet production requirements while maintaining quality standards.
• Run production parts in a fast-paced environment, ensuring parts meet customer specifications.
• Perform manual quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, depth gauges, and other measuring tools.
• Document production data and quality inspection results accurately and consistently.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program issues to minimize downtime and improve process reliability.
• Assist fellow machinists when machines are down or when additional support is needed.
• Use overhead cranes to safely move large components when required.
• Perform basic machine preventative maintenance checks to keep equipment in good working condition.
• Participate in and pass a manual measurement test as part of the interview process.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area, following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Essential Skills

• At the CNC Operator level, at least 2+ years of CNC machining experience operating mills and/or lathes.
• At the CNC Setup Machinist level, at least 3+ years of CNC machining experience with increasing responsibility.
• Hands-on experience performing tool changes and offsets during production.
• Practical experience working with Fanuc controls on CNC equipment.
• Ability to use manual measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
• Blueprint reading experience and the ability to interpret part drawings for production and inspection.
• Experience documenting production and quality inspection data in a clear and accurate manner.
• Ability to pass a manual measurement test during the interview process.
• For CNC Setup Machinists, demonstrated experience performing complete machine setups.
• For CNC Setup Machinists, experience editing CNC programs using G&M codes.
• Understanding of feeds and speeds and how to adjust them to optimize machining performance.
• Ability to troubleshoot programs and machining issues to resolve dimensional or quality problems.
• Strong blueprint interpretation skills and manual inspection experience for higher-level roles.

Qualifications

• Experience operating or setting up Okuma, Okuma Howa, Doosan, or Makino CNC machines.
• Horizontal and vertical machining experience across different machine configurations.
• Advanced G&M code editing capabilities for complex program adjustments.
• Experience using overhead cranes to safely move large or heavy components.
• Preventative maintenance experience on CNC equipment.
• Multi-axis machining experience in a production environment.
• Manufacturing experience within heavy industrial or forging environments.
• Comfort working independently on 3rd shift while meeting production and quality expectations.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment producing forged and machined components, with a team-oriented CNC department that offers varying levels of machining responsibility. Work is primarily on 3rd shift from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, with overtime available on Fridays, and initial training is conducted on 1st shift from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A 7% shift differential applies to 3rd shift work. Manual inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and depth gauges are used throughout the facility, and overhead cranes are available to move large components when necessary. The environment requires comfort working independently at night while consistently meeting production requirements and quality standards, and appropriate PPE and safety footwear are provided and supported through a boot allowance program.

This is a Permanent position based out of Cleveland, OH.

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $69929.60/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
