Bookkeeper

We are a family-oriented construction and remediation company located in Fredericksburg, VA. We are looking for a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team full-time. This is an in-house position for someone who can help keep our financial records accurate, organized, and up to date. The ideal candidate will have experience with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general bookkeeping responsibilities. Experience in construction, remediation, restoration, contracting, trades, or a similar service-based business is preferred, but not required. Position Overview The Bookkeeper will be responsible for handling day-to-day bookkeeping and financial recordkeeping for the company. This person will work directly with management and should be comfortable working independently, staying organized, and maintaining accurate financial information. A CPA license is not required for this position. Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online Enter and categorize transactions Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable Process vendor bills, customer invoices, payments, and deposits Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other accounts Assist with payroll-related bookkeeping and recordkeeping Maintain organized financial files and documentation Help prepare basic financial reports for management Track expenses and assist with cash flow organization Assist with budgeting and expense monitoring Support job costing or project-related bookkeeping as needed Coordinate with management, outside CPA, payroll provider, or other professionals as needed Help ensure bookkeeping records are accurate, current, and easy to review Assist with general office and administrative finance tasks as needed Qualifications The right candidate should have: Prior bookkeeping experience in a small to medium-sized business environment Experience with QuickBooks Online Strong Microsoft Excel skills Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organizational skills Ability to work independently and report directly to management Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally Reliable attendance and ability to work on-site Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Good written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience Construction, remediation, restoration, contracting, trades, or service-business bookkeeping experience Job costing or project-based bookkeeping experience Experience working with an outside CPA or payroll provider Experience supporting payroll records 2+ years of bookkeeping experience preferred What We Offer Full-time, stable position Family-oriented work environment Health insurance Paid time off Paid holidays Consistent Monday–Friday schedule Opportunity to be an important part of a growing local business Work Schedule Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
